The 9800GTX: Continued…

Posted in: GPU |

All right, so yesterday I started my thoughts on the 9800GTX. Today, I will finish them.

So, if you looked at the benchmarks, it’s only slightly better than the 8800GTX. So, which one should you get? An EVGA 8800GTX for $339.99 at Newegg, or the EVGA 9800GTX for $329.99 at Newegg? Well, it depends actually. Say you already own an EVGA 8800GTX; there’s not much reason to upgrade to a 9800GTX, since it’s only a little performance gain. In that case, I wouldn’t upgrade. Now, let’s say you started on… an XFX 8600GT(just naming the first brand in my head :D). Anyways, if you started on an 8600GT, and you saw the performance of the 9800GTX… you’d think it’s just an absolutely awesome card. At least I would.

So, it’s all up to what you have right now… If you already have a high-end card like the 8800GTX and up, you wouldn’t want to. If you have a lower card like the 8600GT, then you’d want to if you had the chance. That’s all for tonight. Good night everyone!

Oh, and if you want to buy a 9800GTX, here’re a couple of them; pick one out, if you have a specific brand preference, go right ahead and pick the one you want:EVGA GeForce 9800 GTX 512MB PCIe 2.0, XFX GeForce 9800 GTX 512MB PCIe 2.0, BFG GeForce 9800 GTX 512BM PCIe 2.0, PNY XLR8 GeForce 9800 GTX 512MB PCIe 2.0
And here’s a picture of one of them. IMO, the Heatsink/fan looks pretty sleek :D
