On the Red Corner, we have AMD’s RS880!!

Posted in: PC |

Hey guys, Icarus here. Hope everyone in the US and others who celebrate in other countries had an AWESOME July 4th Celebration!! I know I did!

Anyways, I’m also sorry I didn’t make a post yesterday, I was away celebrating.

So, onto the topic.

Notice the title? Sounds like an announcement from a boxing match right? Well, I’ve been reading up more stuff on AMD, and found some interesting news.

Recently, AMD has been developing an integrated graphics processor called the RS880. Supposedly, it is at least 15% faster and more powerful than ANYTHING that is available today(yes, including the Green Goblin aka NVidia’s integrated GPUs too).

Now, that is one POWERFUL integrated GPU. I mean, 15% is a massive performance gap that can make a difference between, say, having 30FPS in a game that prevents you from getting your goal and having 50FPS and steamrolling everyone’s butt in your server.

Now, I’ve also been talking about the rumor with Apple and NVidia, and this news makes a big impact on many of your opinions.

In most laptops and netbooks, the motherboard uses integrated GPUs so that they can keep a laptop or a netbook as small, slim, and light as possible. Putting an independent GPU will make laptops noticeably heavier.

And now, AMD is pushing to make a name of itself as an extremely successful integrated GPU company. That means it’ll now pit more pressure and competition against NVidia’s Tegra, mobile, and integrated GPUs.

This means that Apple will have more than sufficient reason to drop NVidia and work with Apple, if it decides to do so because this new integrated GPU will come from a highly reputable company and this new RS880 AKA Radeon HD 4200 will also be the fastest integrated GPU on the market.

So, now with this new information, what do you think will happen? Change your mind, or still with your past opinion? Leave them in comments!

That’s all from me today, hope you enjoyed my article!!

And remember, comment and subscribe!! I will be writing at least one post everyday, and videos are coming very soon! And I love criticism, further analysis, and suggestion on what new hardware you want me to review!!

Cheers!
