AMD RV870s are Hatching!

Posted in: GPU |

Hey guys, Icarus here!

Well, you can tell from the title(hopefully) that I have some more rumors about AMD’s RV870 GPUs!!

From recent rumors, I’ve heard that AMD/ATI are planning to start mass-producing their RV870s(higher-end GPUs) in the late August or at least by the end of Q3.  So, we might see some next-gen DX11 GPUs before Windows 7 is even on shelves!

That’s some AWESOME NEWS!! If this whole rumor is true.

Now, this means big trouble for NVidia, because they’re running behind. Last time I heard, they were having technical difficulties and had to push their GT300s back to the latter part of Q4 2009.

Since Windows 7 is supposed to be on the shelves of the closest retailers near you(sounds like an ad right?) on October 22nd, this means that NVidia might not have their big GT300 GPUs out in time for Windows 7.

So what does this mean? It means that all of the people anxiously waiting and preparing for Windows 7 may buy the first AMD RV800 GPU models that come out. NVidia loses a big chunk of the first wave of festivities!

Hopefully, NVidia has already realized this and is on overdrive to prepare the GT300s in time for Windows 7, or else they may lose a huge chunk of the market just to a few technical issues.

Well, that’s all I have for today’s news post! Hope you all enjoyed it!

Make sure to comment and subscribe! I love criticism, further analysis, and suggestions on what hardware I should review!!

Cheers!
