EVGA and ATI don’t Seem to Mix Well

Posted in: GPU |

Hey guys, Icarus here!

Have you guys recently looked at big-name graphics card vendors like XFX, Gigabyte, and ASUS?

Well, if you look at just those three vendors, the important part to notice is that they sell both ATI and NVidia graphics cards.

And many of the graphics card vendors are making just that same move to get more market shares in this failing economy. Except for one true NVidia vendor: EVGA.

For the past few years, EVGA has been a major NVidia graphics card vendor, always at the top of cutting-edge graphics technology with their best-of-the-best cards always pouncing every other vendor’s form of GPUs.

And I must admit here, I am a major EVGA fanboy. I have an EVGA motherboard and graphics card, and I just can’t get enough of their products(other than their price-gouging).

And there are many, many people just like me who literally bow down to EVGA as if it was our savior(well, that pushes it a bit far, but you get my point). As I’ve said already, EVGA is just that good!

But now, people are starting to get a bit frustrated. Actually that’s not the right word. “Curious” is a better word.

The question is, why hasn’t EVGA taken ATI just like other graphics card vendors?

Well, here’re my possible answers that I’ve thought of:

1. They’re die-hard NVidia vendors. They’ll stay completely loyal to NVidia until the end of the world.

2. EVGA has no choice; NVidia has control over a major part of their business considering NVidia provides the GPUs for EVGA to mass-produce. If NVidia breaks good relations with EVGA because of taking on ATI graphics cards, EVGA will take some major damage.

3. EVGA executives are still weighing the options carefully because both moves have significant long-term consequences. It’s a matter of minimizing that damage.

So, what will EVGA do? We will have to wait for the next few months, or maybe even years. Who knows, EVGA may never change its tactics. But they should remember: the key to business is to not be afraid of change, but preparing for change ahead of time.

Well, that’s all for this post! Hope you guys enjoyed it!

Cheers!
