NVidia ION Becomes(ing) Mainstream
Hey guys, Icarus here!
In the last few days, there’ve been a lot of buzz about NVidia’s ION graphics for netbooks.
NVidia’s ION platform consists of NVidia’s 9400M netbook GPU and Intel’s Atom netbook CPU. The platform is solely for netbooks.
What’s amazing about this platform is that it’s the same platform as Apple’s Macbooks.
Yes, you heard right, they’re the same! This means that Intel netbooks and laptops will have an equally good chance of being just as high-quality machines as Apple’s Macbooks.
Before the NVidia ION platform, PC netbooks and laptops just didn’t cut it when they went against Apple’s Macbooks; the quality and hardware superiority of Apple’s Macbooks just rolled over PC netbooks and laptops like…
A tank rolling over a brick wall, you could say.
But anyways, the point is, Apple Macbooks just outperformed PC laptops and netbooks in every possible way. Except for price.
But now, with the power of NVidia’s ION platform, both types of netbooks/laptops are on equal ground. So now it’s up to the vendors to make the difference.
For those of you thinking about buying a PC laptop/netbook soon, here’re some models to think about:
- Samsung N510, coming out some time in September
- Lenovo IdeaPad S12, coming out around when Windows 7 comes out
- HP Mini311, coming out some time in September
I am pretty sure that there’re other models coming out along with these three, but these are the ones I’ve heard about the most.
So, a question to you guys: how well do you think the NVidia ION platform will perform against Apple’s Macbooks?
Anyways, that’s all for this post! Hope you guys enjoyed it!
Stay tuned for more to come! Make sure to comment and subscribe!
Cheers!
