Collaboration: Windows 7, Intel, and NVidia
Hey guys, Icarus here!
Recently, I’ve heard news about Windows 7 that might upset some of the AMD fans out there: looks like Intel and Microsoft, and NVidia and Microsoft are working together on Windows 7.
From recent rumors, Intel and Microsoft have been collaborating together on Windows 7. Now that sounds good and all, but what troubles AMD fans is that it seems like they’re optimizing Windows 7 for Intel’s HyperThreading technology.
Now, AMD has the same technology but a bit different from Intel’s HT, and if Windows 7 is truly optimized for Intel’s new processors, then AMD may suffer a bit of a performance bang if its own technology doesn’t get along with Windows 7.
Now onto NVidia’s share of the cake: they’ve also been working together with Microsoft on Windows 7 to boost dedicated graphics card performance to encourage consumers to upgrade.
In another light, Intel’s collaboration and effort on Windows 7 with Microsoft is much more influential because what Intel did boosts the DX11 performance by tweaking a program called DX Compute; this tweak favors both NVidia and ATI on equal grounds.
However, Intel’s other influences also keep AMD completely in the dark; it will be extremely difficult for AMD if Intel’s efforts decrease AMD processor performance on Windows 7.
Well, that’s all I have for today! Hope you enjoyed my article.
Stay tuned for more sample computer builds and news/commentary posts!
Cheers!
