The REAL Dream Gaming Computer

Posted in: PC |

Hey guys, Icarus here. Spring break is finally in session!! WOOHOO!!! Good-bye to waking up early, and helloooo, sleep!! FOR A WHOLE WEEK!!!

Anyways, as the title says, I’m gonna talk about the high-end stuff: I mean it, it’s almost at the enthusiast level. But… enthusiast level, all you have to do is get the best of the best with all the money you have. I don’t see much point in that. For me, high-end is the end of the road. High end will still offer an awesome foundation for your awesome gaming experience, without the hassle of spending more than $2500 on one computer and going to the point where you have to break your piggy bank.

Anyways, here’s the build you’ve all been waiting for:
CPU: Intel C2D E8500 3.16GHz OEM

Motherboard: EVGA nforce 780i SLI Motherboard

RAM: Corsair Dominator 2048MB PC6400 DDR2

GPU: 2x EVGA GeForce 9800 GTX 512MB PCIe 2.0

CPU HSF: Zalman CNPS9500A LED CPU Cooling Fan

Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 750GB Hard Drive

Optical Drive: Lite-On LH-20A1S 20x DVD Burner

Case: When you get this high up in budget, you should put your own preference here. Pick the case you like/want.

PSU: Corsair TX750W 750-Watt Power Supply

Well, there ya go. The epitome of the gaming computer. If you prefer, add on a 24” monitor, some other peripherals, and wallah… your dream gaming setup, everything you’ve ever dreamed of, right in front of your eyes. Once again… happy fragging!

    The Mid-Range Gaming Computer

    Posted in: PC |

Hey guys, Icarus here again w/ another build.

Now, this is one of the more popular budget ranges, because this is what most of us spend on average when we want to build a gaming computer, including myself. I believe this is the range that targets the majority of people looking to build a computer. And because of this, the build must be absolutely solid in order to deliver the gaming experience you crave for.

I’ve been helping out people in another forum, and recently, I made up a gaming computer build for a fellow member for a budget of $1100. And that’s right in the “mid-range” budget: $1000- $1500. So, here it is, the Golden build:

    CPU: Intel C2D E6750 2.66GHz w/Fan (Retail)

    Motherboard: Abit IP35 Pro Motherboard

    RAM: Corsair Dominator 2048MB PC6400 DDR2

GPU: EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB PCIe 2.0

Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 750GB Hard Drive

    Optical Drive: Lite-On LH-20A1S 20x DVD Burner

    Case: Thermaltake Armor
On the case, I’d also encourage you to look around popular retailers, and look for the case you want. Make sure you know what you’re looking for(I’ll get more into that later)

    PSU: ThermalTake 600-Watt Power Supply

There ya go, a solid mid-range gaming PC. I’d also encourage getting XP, because IMO, XP is still a lot better than Vista, even when the # of bugs on Vista is decreasing. Happy fragging!

    The Dream Computer, Gamer Style

    Posted in: PC |

Ok, well I promised I’d start talking about gaming computers, because that’s more interesting. So, here goes nothing!

Well, we  PC gamers… including me… always want the best gaming experience possible, even if it’s out of our reach… and almost always, out budget limits us from the enthusiast level. Well, lemme tell you one important fact: you don’t NEED an enthusiast-level gaming computer to have the best gaming experience possible. Heck, you can play on a mid-range gaming computer, and still get as much out of it as an enthusiast-level gaming computer, AS LONG AS YOU’RE PLAYING THE GAME YOU LOVE. The computer is just an extension of your gaming experience… provides the basic foundation, and the rest is up to you.

Well, anything awesome has an excellent foundation. Well, here’re some key points you want to look for when you’re building a gaming computer on a budget:

    1. What size monitor/monitor resolution will you be gaming on?

    2. What games will you play?(Crysis at the top of GPU demand, etc.)

So, those are 2 very important questions you should ask yourself when you build your computer. Depending on those questions, you may not even need to use your whole budget! You save money, and you get an awesome gaming experience. How much better can it get?

Well, it’s getting late, so I must go to sleep! Tomorrow, I will post a low-end gaming computer build for you all to enjoy. See you all later!
